How did you get started doing what you do?
After I graduated from high school, I went to study fine art at Vantan Design Institute in Tokyo. But after graduation from VDI, I did nothing during my twenties because I was really into band activity. But when I turned 30, I felt something lacking in my life. And at the age of 31, I enrolled in MJ ILLUSTRATIONS to learn illustration again (graduated in 2013.)

How would you describe your creative style?
The answer is simple, illustration.

Wake up 9am, start working around 10am to 8pm or 9pm. After that, drink Japanese sake and go to bed.

How long does it typically take for you to finish a piece?
Ummm, it depends… but basically I do not think it will take much time, 3 days at the longest.

Believe in myself.

How have others reacted to your work?
I don’t know how others have reacted to my work. But people are surprised who see my work up close for the first time because I use paper-cut techniques.

What do you want others to take away from your work?
Everything that they feel. It’s not my call.

“Be persistent, refuse to stop”- from my mom.

Any words of wisdom to aspiring artists who want to pursue a similar career?
People are not as interested in you as you think, but you have to believe in yourself always.

What are your thoughts on art school?
It’s not bad if students have a certain image for their future.
