Tell us about yourself, who are you, where are you from, and what do you make?
I’m Sencer Aygün, I was born and reside in Istanbul, Turkey. I study at; Yıldız Technical University, Faculty of Art and Design; Combined Arts Department.
Even though I keep experimenting with a wide variety of media, I mainly create digital collages.
How did you get started making the type of art you make?
I already had an interest in drawing and painting as a child. I used to enjoy manipulating photographs of my friends in high school. But I didn’t go in that direction; when I was 18 -as a son of parents who were both lawyers- I went to the Faculty Of Law.
In my first year as a law student I hated everything about it. At that time I was making paintings with my graphic tablet. So I decided to quit the school and instead applied to the art school that I’m currently studying at.
What’s your inspiration?
Just being some “thing” in the universe. It’s amazing and terrifying at the same time.
What is art to you?
It’s a playground for adults.
What do you hope to accomplish with your work?
I’ll quote Emil Cioran; “My mission is to kill time, and time’s to kill me in its turn. How comfortable one is among murderers”
