Tell us about yourself, who are you, where are you from, and what do you make?
My name is Elif Biradlı. I live in Istanbul, Turkey and I’m an art student in her last year. I’m into taking photographs and shooting shortvideos that leaves psychological effects on the viewer. I generally work in the stream of consciousness.
How did you get started making the type of art you make?
I started to be interested in this when I was 12; shooting video clips of my sisters with my father’s Sony camcorder. I regularly made them wear silly outfits and forced them to dance to random pop hits. I also enjoyed gathering people around and showing them the final product.
What’s your inspiration?
To me the most fascinating thing is the hidden subconsciousness. That’s my inspiration.
What does your typical day look like?
Aubergine, It’s lighter than what it looks like.
How do you keep motivated?
First of all; I daydream all the time.
And I have panic disorder, when I create things; it relieves me a lot.
When I have worries and bad thoughts, I just take pictures and clear my mind.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given?
“The world needs introverts” says Susan Cain. Here you can find the whole talk.
What are your thoughts on art school?
It depends. The only thing I’m sure about this subject is that the art education, even the general education in the country that I live in; is terrible.
